Australia Day part 2
We finally did our routines at about 7pm and the dogs all did awesome! Apart from one slightly bad thing from Lassie – she misjudged her turn and smacked into Chana’s leg, knocking her over. Luckily Chana wasn’t hurt, and continued her routine.
And the other dogs showed off some cool new tricks as well as old ones.
But of course there was still time to have fun!
All in all, a very fun Australia Day!!
Australia Day
Yesterday, finally, we packed up and left the Whyalla Caravan Park! Woohoo!
We’re now parked somewhere way out in the scrub down a dirt road. The ride in was extremely dusty! Last night we headed off into the scrub with torches – after four weeks of sameness, we couldn’t wait to explore something new! We found a small skink and a whole lot of rabbit holes. This morning we headed out again and found just the rabbit holes. Oh well, it was fun anyway!
Tess’s injury is healing up ok, not causing her too much problems.
We haven’t done our Australia Day routines yet, but I have done a few rehearsals. It’s looking pretty good and Sparkie’s learned a new trick for it.

Bus renovations are nearly finished!
For the last three and a half weeks we’ve been organizing some new stuff for the bus. First we had to clean out all the gear from under the back bed, and cram it into the tent.
And then we had to remove the bed, which was probably the easiest part of the whole job! Then an acquaintance of ours, who happened to have the right technology, cut the rear seat out of the bus, leaving us with a massive hole in the floor.
Meanwhile Daddy was patching up the bus, which had a few rust patches by the front wheel. Fast forward two weeks, the guy had welded on a towbar and we still had a hole in the back and my parents were sleeping on a mattress on the floor. We brought some wood and got to work. SikaFlex on the metal bars, then we stuck the wood on it and put a few screws in it for good measure.
One flat out day of drilling, screwing, measuring, and riveting, and we’ve put the bed back in – twice as high as before!
We now just have to put in Gabrielle and Suzanna’s bed on the right.
On a totally different note, poor Tess is “10-7” for a while. She came back limping, without the ball, during our evening game of fetch. She’s ripped part of her foot open. Jessica put colloidal silver on it to ward off any infection, but I think Tess should take it easy for a while. Although she seems to disagree entirely – she’s currently running up and down the bus with a half broken tennis ball!

Saturday fun (well, sort of!)
Yesterday we got some of the dogs’ broken toys and with a bit of imagination created some sea creatures! We had to stitch them all together by hand, which was fun. The dogs seem to love them too.
Clockwise from top – Sambo’s jellyfish, Sparkie’s squid, Tess’s leafy sea dragon, Lassie’s starfish
In the afternoon we headed out to do some shopping, then went to a playground.
And then, even more fun, was the swim at the beach!
We went back to the bus just as the sun was going down, got some nice sunset shots (again), and then realized – the chicken was gone! We’d brought a ready-to-eat roast chicken and left it on the bench. Big mistake! There was a big hole in the plastic, and no chicken – not even any bones. Being the only dog loose, Sparkie must have jumped up and taken it down, but somehow Tess must have ended up getting most of it. She was, as Daddy put it, “looking like she was about to pop.” And Sparkie wasn’t. Poor Sparkie! LOL! Because that was going to be our dinner, we now had to find a shop still open to buy something else. It was now about 9pm and in Whyalla, things close early. So we settled for KFC, only to find it closed just as we arrived. In the end, we got McDonald’s burgers and chips and fizzy drink, which wasn’t too bad. I finally got to bed around 11pm!
All up, a good day, although the ending could have been better.

Welcome!
Welcome to my new blog. My other new blog! LOL!! Webs isn’t compatible with Windows Live Writer, which we recently downloaded. And since both Jessica and my parents are set up with Blogger, they could use WLW and I couldn’t. So I decided to set up a Blogger site too, and hopefully find it easier to blog on it than with Webs.
In my last blog post, I mentioned the beautiful sunset we saw down at the beach. Well, here it is!
Hey, nice – I can tilt it too!
We’re still in Whyalla, but planning on heading off sometime soon. I’ve started organizing a trick routine for AD. It’s ok, needs a heap of work on it though! Jessica’s just brought herself a body board thing – she’s hoping to get Tess on it when we next go to the beach! Good luck with that, Jess!!
The last few weeks we’ve ditched MacGyver for Emergency. Poor old MacGyver! But Emergency’s pretty funny and it’s got even less bad language than MacGyver, which is always good. But now whenever somebody gets hurt, Gabrielle will yell out “Station 51!” LOL!!
